Two-Time National Award Winner
The Trumbull County Travel Planner won the U.S. Travel Association’s Destiny Award for Best Visitors Guide in the nation in 2020 and 2021. To get there, we expanded the storytelling in the visitors guide and made their helpful listings of experiences even more valuable to readers by including them on a large, printed map.
Our Strategy
We maximized storytelling by moving listings to an 8-panel map, allowing more space in the guide to promote Trumbull County experiences. The map is included in the guide and available on its own.
We continued to create a photo library of Trumbull County destinations to use in the publication, along with other marketing materials. Residents acted as models for authenticity.
Results
Trumbull County Tourism Bureau completed a visitor guide and marketing effectiveness research in early 2021. The findings for those who requested visitor guides was 40% visited Trumbull County and more than half of those who didn’t visit still intend to visit soon. For every $1 spent on the guide, it returned $9 in incremental spending.
